I first want to start out by saying that I hate when the best looking character dies. [Ridiculous] Okay, first off I felt like Nick was hoping that by moving out East that he would accumulate some sort of fortune, but slowly started realizing that all those wonderful things he had imagined were so very tainted. Daisy and Tom's love was a joke based around nothing more than lies and money. It's sad to think money can have such an effect on something as "sacred" as love. At first I really liked Daisy because she seemed so hopeful and happy just about everything. Then towards the end of the movie when she reveals her selfish side to Jay it just really put me off. But in real life most everyone has good intentions in the beginning then the truly weak are always the ones that get caught up in the materialistic side of reality. I really did like this movie though and it had a really good life lesson. Money really can't buy happiness!

I completely agree Calli. Everyone seemed dillusional to the extreme. It is always a surprise but well known that some people value money so much they would sacrifice their own lives - figuratively speaking. Great post :)
ReplyDeleteI hated as well that Gatsby died, so handsome.
